Choosing the Pattern for Your Bathroom Vinyl Floor Tiles

After buying your house you will find that there is a lot of fun in decorating it according to your style and personal taste. You can start from scratch or adjust existing fixtures and fittings but it is always better to select new colours and designs for floors which will last for a long time. Choosing the pattern for your bathroom floor tiles will ensure that you can have the colour scheme you want to see every day for the next few years.

First you will have to decide if you want bathroom vinyl flooring or bathroom wooden flooring and then decide on the colours and designs. Although bathroom wood flooring is available you will find that most people opt for bathroom vinyl floor tiles. This is because a wooden floor is not very practical where there is likely to be a lot of water or water damage and when it comes to bathroom flooring vinyl is the better choice.

Bathroom vinyl flooring offers comfort and quality, and is relatively easy to install if you choose to do it yourself. Picking a style you like best may be the most difficult decision you'll face when choosing vinyl flooring. There are two distinct patterns for vinyl flooring: printed and inlaid.

Printed vinyl

Printed vinyl is made by printing a pattern directly onto the surface of a vinyl sheet, and then covering it with a protective layer. This type of vinyl is also called rotovinyl, from the name of the printing process. Printed vinyl is available in a variety of patterns and colours, and is more cost-effective than inlaid vinyl. However, it is less durable.

Inlaid Vinyl

Inlaid vinyl is made by injecting a colour pattern directly into a vinyl sheet, and then fusing both together so that colours and pattern become part of the material. This type of process gives inlaid vinyl a rich, longer-lasting appearance than printed vinyl. However, inlaid vinyl tends to come in fewer patterns and colours.

Whether you choose vinyl sheet or vinyl tile, it's important to have a vinyl floor that remains durable for years to come. This will depend on a number of factors, including your vinyl floor's wear layer, or finish, which is a coating applied to vinyl to maintain its shine. There are three types of finishes commonly used:

Vinyl no-wax

This is the most cost-effective choice. Stain-resistant and easy to clean, it stays shiny so there's no need to polish or buff.

Urethane

This is easy to clean and more resistant to scuffs and stains than no-wax finishes and it keeps its original appearance longer. It stays shiny without polishing or buffing.

Enhanced urethane

This outperforms vinyl no-wax and regular urethane finishes. It resists scuffs, scratches and household stains better and has longer-lasting shine with no polishing or buffing.

Bathroom floor tiles are also practical because if a small area becomes damaged from repeated spills or just from a lot of foot traffic, then it is easy to just replace a few individual tiles.

Bathroom Vinyl Floor Tiles are an Excellent Choice for Most Homes

A few years ago I was in country where the weather was always hot and having a shower at least twice a day was a matter of priority rather than preference. I noticed that the tiles in the bathrooms were always ceramic which was mainly due to the fact they were wet so much of the time and this was a practical choice. In the UK however there is a lot more choice available when it comes to bathroom floor tiles.

Bathroom floor tiles are available in a surprising number of materials. Ceramic, porcelain, and vinyl tiles are what come to mind first, and for good reason. They are the most popular choices and perhaps the most practical, but there are many options available today, from wood and cork to stone and glass.

In many homes you will find that bathroom vinyl flooring is used since bathroom vinyl floor tiles are a sensible and practical choice, as well as offering a variety of styles and colours to choose from. Bathroom vinyl flooring is the most popular bathroom flooring material, because of its low cost and high degree of practicality. It is well-suited for every bathroom in the house, from the master bath to the powder room. It beats other popular choices for safety, comfort, and durability. Almost as important, vinyl tiles have come a long way in aesthetic appeal and ease of installation. The material is self-adhering and can be cut with a utility knife, making it ideal flooring for anyone who is interested in DIY.

Although it is generally considered to be aesthetically inferior to laminate flooring, vinyl flooring is inexpensive, and tile vinyl (sometimes with a self-stick backing) is easy to install yourself (sheet vinyl usually requires professional installation). Vinyl flooring is also durable, resistant to UV light and easy to clean and maintain. And although tile vinyl is susceptible to scratches, it is also easy to repair.Soft vinyl floor tiles are very versatile and make an excellent hardwearing floor in any room. The tiles can be stuck to the floor with tile adhesive or they may have a self-adhesive backing, so all you do is peel off the paper covering it. Tiles pre-coated with adhesive are quicker to lay, and there is no mess. They are light to work with and if you make a mistake, you only ruin one tile rather than a whole – and expensive – sheet of vinyl.

Bathroom wood flooring is only for the fearless. Once water penetrates the finish, it will stain—probably for good. During installation, the wood parquet tiles must be carefully sealed around the room perimeter and at all other joints. Two coats of polyurethane must then be applied as protection. Use it in a powder room but avoid bathroom wooden flooring tile in proper bathrooms that get a lot of use, and it follows that you should never use wood flooring in a bathroom which will be at the disposable of children and all the splashing they do.
